Data that we collect when you apply to the programme

When you apply to The Games Hub programme, Personal Data that we collect from you includes:

  • Email address
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Whether or not you are a student at the University of Essex
  • Any Personal Data that you enter into the free text box on the form

This information is used to assess applications to the programme, and will be held as long as is necessary to make our decision. We share information on the number of students participating in the programme with the University of Essex, but this is not linked to any individual. Your name and email address are used to communicate with you regarding your application, and to send you relevant information about the programme if you are successful in your application, including information on when guest speakers are coming in, links to blog posts and other information on our website, and other opportunities in computer games and app development which we think you might be interested in and is relevant to participants of The Games Hub programme.

Data that we collect when you sign up to our mailing list

Participants and other interested parties in The Games Hub may choose to sign up to our mailing list. For this we collect names and email addresses, which we use to contact you in order to provide occasional updates about The Games Hub programme, including information on when guest speakers are coming in, links to blog posts and other information on our website, and other opportunities in computer games and app development which we think you might be interested in and is relevant to participants of The Games Hub programme. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. Emails you send us are stored in our email folders.
